Interview with Necrosis done by Patrick
1.Hello please introduce yourselves to the readers?
We are Bob, Max and Johan.
2.When did you first meet the other members of the band and was it long before you all started Necrosis? How did you all choose Necrosis as the bands name?
That’s a very long story, since we’ve known each other since approx. 1998.
To make the story short; Bob and Max are brothers, so that’s pretty much self-explanatory. Max then met Johan, and formed Alter Ego together with Bob on drums Johan was on guitar and vocal, Max was on guitar and vocal and a mutual friend, Dennis, was on bass. We played together for about 3 years, and we eventually split up. Bob and Max, however, kept writing music and were doing some experiments on new sounds and techniques. They did that for about 2 years, and we practically shelved it. After 2 years Bob and Max couldn’t leave the music behind, and formed Necrosis in 2007. We were Bob on vocals, Max on guitar, and a good friend, Calvin on bass. When Calvin left the band, Bob met Johan again, asking whether we were still active, and Bob said yes.
We teamed up in 2011, and the rest is pretty much history.
3.What is the bands current line-up of Necrosis? And who would you say are the bands biggest influences?
Current line-up is Bob on lyrics, vocals and programming, Max on guitar and Johan on bass. We’re individually very influential. Bob doesn’t play an instrument but he has deep understanding of our musical direction, and for a long time Max was the one coming up with the riffs, but since Johan joined he’s beginning to do that as well.
4.Mythogenesis is the bands debut release how long did it take the band to write to write the music for the debut?Does the whole band work on the music or does one member usually write everything?
It took about 2 years to write the material for Mythogenesis. There were some obstacles on way that prolonged the eventual release. As mention before; we all contribute to making the music.
We have a very uncompromising approach to our music.
5.Who usually takes care of writing the lyrics for the music and what are some topics you all wrote about on Mythogenesis?
Bob is the main author. Topics involves inner universe, anti-religious subjects and sociological discussions.
6.I believe Mythogenesis is a digital release are their plans to release it on a physical format soon?Where can the readers buy the debut release?Besides the debut is their any other merchandise available for the fans to buy?If yes what is available and where can the readers buy it?
At the moment there's only a digital release, which can be purchased at our bandcamp: necrosisdk.bandcamp.com. We're working on a stream solution, so keep an eye on our facebook page for more information on that. Physical releases is interesting if the demand is for it. Should there eventually be a physical release, you can expect to purchase it on our bandcamp. We're working on a merchandise solution. Instead of having a stock of the t-shirt and the like, we want to collaborate with a t-shirt producer that offers t-shirts ad hoc. Should this eventually also be available, then it’ll purchasable through our bandcamp. So keep an eye out for our facebook page for info.
7.Has Necrosis played live yet?If yes what have been some of your most memorable shows so far?
We've played live numerous of times. Every band member has their own particular memorable show. We do have a collective memorable experience though. In 2014 we were participating Wacken Metal Battle, where we got to play two big gigs with other contestants. The first one had Crowbar as the main gig, and the other had Hatesphere.
8.Are their any tours or shows coming up in support of Mythogenesis ?If yes where will the band be playing?
We’re not planning any tours yet, but we are having a relaease party at High Voltage in Copenhagen, with Mental Coma and Septic Congestion as support. We're working on a more flesh out concert dates for our release.
9.When not working on new music or band business what do you like to do in your free time?
Every band members are a father, so we do a lot of family time, but we do like to play on PCs and consoles. Max is boardgame enthusiast, so a lot of time goes into that as well.
10Besides playing in Necrosis do any of the members currently play in any other bands? If yes please tell the readers a little about them?
None of us is playing in any other band.
11. Necrosis comes out of Denmark's old-school death metal scene what is your opinion of the metal scene in Denmark?
We have a thriving underground metal scene. The metal media seems to ignore the vast talent pool that are presented in the lesser known scenes. The danish metal scene have issues with embracing new concepts. Especially if they don’t conform to the traditional archetypes.
12.Who are your all-time favorite bands coming out of Denmark? And are their any new bands coming out of Denmark you feel the readers should watch out for?
First of all: Necrosis. We have some oldies like Iniquity, Konkhra, Invocator and Dominus. Some new ones that are worth mentioning are Mental Coma, Septic Congestion, Guttural Slug, Six String Slaughter and Impalers.
13.Besides death metal do you listen to any other forms of underground music? If yes what are some of your favorite genres and bands, musicians?
One of us listens to Perturbator and Lazer Hawk, and funeral doom like Disembowelment, Evoken and Tyranny. The other one listens to a great deal of black metal, like Mgla, Infernos, Cult of Fire and Zhrine.
14.Besides music we are huge movie fans here at Ancient Visionz do you all watch a lot of movies? What are some of your all-time favorite movies?
Yes we do, and a lot. Johan consider Lawless as one of his all time favourites. Bob has an undivided love for a lot of movies, and was unable to mention one. His favourite genre are horror, sci-fi and sci-fi/horror. Max all favourite is Conan the Barbarian (John Milius).
15.Are their any actresses and actors you enjoy watching?
Max enjoys to watch Ryan Gosling, particularly in Nicolas Winding Refn movies. Johan has a thing for Tom Hardy at the moment. Jake Gyllenhaal is high on Bobs list, but he also favours Kit Harrington.
16.Thank you for taking the time to fill this interview out do you have any final comments for the readers?
We want to point out that we have an amazing underground for metal, that are in dire need of attention. There is a massive talent that aren’t getting the well-deserved credit. If you’re a fan of metal; explore the local scene and support the bands by showing up to the concerts, and recognise them on their social medias.
